2020 – Cosmic Camel Love Boat

Cosmic Camel Love Boat

The Cosmic Camel Love Boat art project debuted at Freezer Burn 2020. It is a work in progress that consists of a Bass Boat pulled on a trailer that has a Cuddle Cabin on board. We used a Freezerburn art grant to paint the boat, make the PVC Cuddle Cabin and the large Pink Camel that sits on top of the Cuddle Cabin. Unigue hand made lanterns hang over the boat. Sexy time supplies are offered in a chest for passenger to avail themselves.

We are requesting this art grant to make a waterproof fabric Roman shade for the cuddle cabin, waterproof covers for the box spring and mattress in the cabin, spot lights for the boat so it will be attractively visible at night, and to construct a mosquito net covering for the Cuddle Cabin that will allow for air circulation when the waterproof covering is not necessary.

Will it need power?

If it will need power, what is your power plan?

We have a small generator and marine batteries to run the power for the lights.

Does the piece incorporate flame effects, moveable pieces, and/or is it climbable?

If it does incorporate flame effects, moveable pieces, and/or is climbable what is your safety plan? [(Note: if flame effects are used, your project will be subject to inspection by the Burnable Art Lead, who has final say if your project will burn during the event).]

The project is designed for safe boarding. We have a heavy duty stair case that allows people to comfortably board the boat. We had no trouble with the boat staying steady on the trailer at Freezer Burn. We post that there is a limit of four people on board at one time, although if two or three people were in the cuddle cabin and three people boarded the boat it would not be a problem as weight would be dispersed. The small area to stand before entering the cuddle cabin is a deterrent to over crowding. The cuddle cabin is the size of a twin mattress.

Have you completed any other large scale art projects? (In this media? Where and when? How did the project go? Do you have pictures or recordings?)

Yes, initial project of getting the boat ready for Freezee Burn was massive. I have also hosted theme parties with massive stage set type decor.

How much money do you need? (Up to $575) We are looking for a thorough itemized budget and the amount of grant money you are requesting. Please include a reasonably researched estimate of the cost of the materials you expect to need.

We are requesting $575.00

Budget breakdown is as follows:
yards of Black and White striped ottertex waterproof fabric for Roman Shade and mattress covers and 20 yards of colorful rip stop fabric for the decorative bunting for the cuddle cabin, lift line and Cosmic Camel Cantina tent (tying camp aesthetic together)

$243.96 Spot lights for boat, cuddle cabin and Pink Cosmic Camel.

36.00. hook and loop Velcro for attaching roof material and mosquitoes net.

24.04 cording for Roman shade

4.59 drapery rings for Roman shade

26.99 Powerstrip for lights.

$35. Sewing notions – heavy duty thread, heavy duty sewing machine needles, eye hooks for cording for shade.

Total $598.18 ( I know the cap is $575)

If you want to upload something for the budget you can do that here:

What is your timeline detailing the planning, creation, installment, and removal of your project?

I have just updated Cosmic Camel’s bling for the animal art show at the warehouse yesterday. Next week I will cut the mosquito net to get it ready for the Velcro and will mount fabric and light strips athat I have on the Cuddle Cabin interior roof. When/if the grant is received I will cut and sew the fabric for the Roman shades and bunting. So that I can sew a little each day- to avoid a last minute rush.

The project is towed to the burn and at this time kept in one place during the Burn. At Freezer Burn we were on the effigy field perimeter.

Optional but encouraged: detailed drawings, CAD files/SketchUp documents, sketches, or other graphic illustrations of your creative concept.

We would like the artists to give community workshops outside of Flipside. Do you think you have a workshop idea that could be provided to the community? If so, please tell us what it is.

I’m planning a costume creation event with Rally Jinx and Flame!

By applying for this grant you agree that if given the funds you plan to:

Work to compete your project by Flipside, Save and provide receipts of materials greater than or equal to grant amount by 07/25/20. If you do not provide this information you be disqualified from receiving a grant in the future., Complete a follow up report so we can learn

You may upload photos/recording of past projects here *You must have a Google account to do so.

We will be having the 2021 Ignition Philter fundraiser after the fall town hall (usually held in late September/ early October.) Would you be willing to bring the piece back for that event?
