Title

Texas Burners

Description

I’ve taken the emblem we have for our regional community here in Texas and made it something we can display at events for years to come. It is the Texas flag overlayed by our burning man arms and capped off with a real cow skull. It’s also lit from inside

Optional but encouraged: detailed drawings, CAD files/SketchUp documents, sketches, or other graphic illustrations of your creative concept.

Will it need power?

Yes

If it will need power, what is your power plan?

Battery connect or connected to camp power

Does the piece incorporate flame effects, moveable pieces, and/or is it climbable?

No

If it does incorporate flame effects, moveable pieces, and/or is climbable what is your safety plan? [(Note: if flame effects are used, your project will be subject to inspection by the Burnable Art Lead, who has final say if your project will burn during the event).]

Have you completed any other large scale art projects? (In this media? Where and when? How did the project go? Do you have pictures or recordings?)

I will probably answer this in another question as well but I previously received an art grant for this piece in 2020 before it was canceled, however upon its cancelation the funds were never sent. This was my first project on a scale of this size. The project was finished in summer of 2021 with my own funds.

You may upload photos/recording of past projects here *You must have a Google account to do so.

What is your timeline detailing the planning, creation, installment, and removal of your project?

As mentioned the project is complete. It will be installed upon arrival at FS and removed that Monday following the event during camp loadout

How much money do you need? (Up to $575) We are looking for a thorough itemized budget and the amount of grant money you are requesting. Please include a reasonably researched estimate of the cost of the materials you expect to need.

I’m asking for $350.
The recycled frame cost $100 from a recycling center
The wood and sheet aluminum at time of purchase were roughly $100
I will be purchasing a deep cycle battery for mobile power supply at roughly $100.
The lighting cost are $50

Many of these items were acquired over a span of a few years before I made this project happen or knew about the art grant and the need to keep my receipts so I unfortunately do not have a paper trail for anything other than the battery I will be buying.

Hard Dollars

350

Have you received funding from any other entity or regional for this piece previously? If so, who and how much?

No, as previously stated that I was chosen for this art grant in 2020 but never received it due to it’s cancelation.

Assuming a covid safe way: in 2022-2023 We would like the artists to give community workshops outside of Flipside. Do you think you have a workshop idea that could be provided to the community? If so, please tell us what it is.

N/a

Assuming a covid safe way: We will be having the 2022 Ignition Philter fundraiser in Austin after the fall town hall (usually held in late September/ early October.) Would you be willing/able to bring the piece back for that event?

Yes
