Cedar Stumps need makeovers too!
A Texas native, I, Roxy, travelled from my small hometown to Austin to attend the University of Texas in 2005 where I graduated with a degree in psychology. Uncertain of my path forward, I stumbled into a community of creative kindred spirits and have been on a journey of healing and discovering my artistic voice through experimentation with a variety of mediums. You can usually find me in my garage studio space fiddling with inks, paints, and hand-dyed paper, creating three dimensional mixed-media landscapes on canvas. Intermittently, I infuse my practice with backyard chainsaw carving sessions on various cedar and oak stumps I’ve collected to satiate my need for flow. I thrive in the organic unfolding of the process and in surrender to the whims of my intuition and the materials at hand. Through this work, I hope to physically explore and express my journey of self discovery and the process of overcoming oppressive societal and cultural conditioning that might otherwise paralyze and inhibit my spirit and artistic expression.
